Vicki has been an activewear and sportswear designer for over 10 years and is able to provide quality designs as technical drawings or 3d renders, accurate tech packs and production assistance for Women’s cut and sew activewear products. She’s helped to launch several startup labels over the past few years, with great success and has also worked for large brands and knows the importance of creating designs that are within budget, as well as appealing to the customer. As a former fashion buyer, she also has an eye for the numbers and profit margins.

Her activewear design experience includes yogawear, dancewear and leotards, football kits for a Championship footballer, rugby kits, tennis fashion, modest fashion, netball kits and high fashion athleisure, to name a few. You can also see her swimwear portfolio here and her casualwear portfolio here.

Lilybod

Vicki worked on activewear designs for Lilybod and also helped them to source new materials and transition to a clearer way of presenting tech packs to factories. As well as the trend research, trade show visits and designs Vicki provided full tech packs with measurements, tolerance, construction, etc and liaised with the factory when needed.

For copyright reasons, the brand photography is not shown here, however you can shop the Lilybod range here.

Atum Egypt

Vicki worked on trend research, range reviews, activewear designs and textile prints for Atum Egypt, across their entire range of Womens, Mens, Girls and Buys. For the adult products she also provided full tech packs with measurements, tolerance, construction, etc.

Karenes

Vicki worked as a freelance activewear designer and garment technologist to help launch new modest activewear brand Karenes. She provided design direction, designs and full tech packs with sizing.

Move Dance

Vicki worked with leading dancewear brand Move Dance on multiple collections and helped them with design and spec sheets for multiple leotard collections across fashion {one collection example shown above}, ballet, athleisure and core categories. Vicki provided creative direction for the collections and worked with merchandising plans from Move Dance to create the range. Vicki designed ranges for high fashion dance leotards, on-trend activewear styles, a ballroom collection plus leotards for volume lines.

As the final product photography is property of the brand, this isn’t in the portfolio, however you can click here for a video introducing this range and see the collection by clicking here.

This project allowed Vicki to use her knowledge of OTB and range planning to create designs that met the customer’s goals, plus her technical expertise ensured that the designs could be manufactured efficiently too.

Free Flow Active

Vicki worked with the Free Flow Active founder on their first collection. The founder had a strong idea for the brand ethos and the functionality of the product. Vicki then took this and produced designs, tech packs and sustainable strategy, ready to go into production.

The brands USP is being able to create sustainable products that take the wearer from ‘sweat to swim’, so Vicki needed to be mindful of the mixed end use of the product and how to minimise the environmental impact on the products.

3d Design S/S 2020

Vicki is always keen to upskill and in early 2020 she invested in 3d design and pattern cutting software. Of course, Vicki wanted to practice her skills before offering 3d services to clients, so created a self directed project to develop her skills.

Vicki created this range of yoga clothing, inspired by the meditation and self care movement showing for 2020 and beyond. Vicki used the 3d software to develop clothing pattern blocks which she perfected the fit on. She was then able to quickly try out new design ideas which update on the 3d mannequin in real time.

At the completion of the design phase, the patterns can be graded and exported ready for the factory to use. Measurements, colourways and other details can also be exported for use in tech packs. Vicki has been using 3d design with select clients and has found that over 60% of them made changes to their initial plans after working with her on this, meaning they reduced the number of samples they ultimately needed for the project.

Lead The Pack AW18/19

Vicki worked with Lead The Pack on their first collection which launched in 2018, creating designs and tech packs for their range Men’s and Women’s activewear.

This project allowed Vicki to use her knowledge of performance fabrics obtained in previous job roles and attending seminars on the latest activewear innovations. She was able to see the project through, assisting the founder with garment technology and consulting services after the designs were complete.
